Precincts
At present there are 8 precincts planned for Hobsonville Point including the existing Marine Industry Precinct, Yard 37. Civil works are underway on the Buckley Precinct and the resource consent applications for the coastal structures within The Landing precinct have been lodged with the Auckland Regional Council.
Buckley
The Buckley Precinct is in the mid-western section of the development. The first stage of Buckley involves building about 80 traditional stand-alone and terrace houses, a percentage of which will be targeted at first home buyers.
Civil works (roads and services) for the first stage of Buckley is under way. Construction of the first houses is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2010 with people moving into their new community in early 2011.
Yard37
This proposed 20ha marine industry precinct will eventually include about 100,000m2 of marine industry and associated buildings. It will offer local employment opportunities for Hobsonville Point residents. Yard 37 is being developed by Waitakere Properties Ltd.
The Landing
The Landing will be the coastal gateway for the site, providing for a range of activities, including recreational facilities for the public, a ferry service to downtown Auckland and the launching of large boats built in the Marine Industry Precinct.
Hudson
Hudson is the area between Buckley and Sunderland with outlooks to the north towards the upper harbour. It will comprise a range of housing types together with coastal and neighbourhood parks.
Sunderland
Sunderland comprises the eastern coastal headland area. Planning is currently under way for this precinct. It is envisaged that it will include a range of uses, both residential and commercial. Development will complement the rich character of the area, including retaining a range of buildings, mature trees and open space.
Catalina
Catalina is likely to be developed towards the end of the project. The coastal edge and large open spaces are available in the interim for recreational activities.
Village
The Village Precinct is adjacent to the existing Hobsonville shops. Planning for the Village Precinct is in the early stages and will be influenced by developments on the other side of Hobsonville Road. It is likely that the Village Precinct will be mixed use in nature, including a mix of retail, commercial, community and residential uses.
