Farmers Market Apple Festival 26 February 2012
On Sunday 26 February 2012, the Hobsonville Point Farmers Market celebrated their first anniversary with an Apple Festival. Thousands of people enjoyed the sun, music, food and apple themed activities, with Apple Bobbing proving to be the favorite! There were lots of prizes sponsored by stallholders, and winners of the apple pie competition and scarecrow competition went home with some great prizes too.
Auckland Orienteering Club Relay Event - 6 November 2011
On a windy Sunday morning, over 100 club members and people looking for a taste of orienteering, braved the blustery elements to take on an orienteering adventure around Hobsonville Point.
All up it was a fun event, and the long grass made it that extra bit of a challenge!

Hobsonville North Kindergarten Artwork Unveiling - 24 September 2011
On Saturday 24 September Hobsonville North Kindergarten children and teachers, past and present, and friends and families, gathered in the community garden at Hobsonville Point to unveil the artwork the kindergarten children made with local artist Janet Holtrigter. There was a touching blessing by Ngati Whatua o Kaipera and Te Kawerau a Maki, music by local ukulele group 'Tahini Jam', facepainting and a bbq by the parents of Hobsonville North Kindergarten.
5 posts have been installed, representing Resilience, Identity, Friendship, Exploration and Taonga (Treasures). Each post has ceramics made by the children, teachers and some parents.
The children loved seeing their artwork proudly displayed in the community garden. Well done to the children, and as Janet has told them, 'You are Artists'!

Hobsonville Point Runway Challenge 15 May 2011
Over 900 eager mums, dads, kids and grandparents of all fitness levels took part in the Hobsonville Point Runway Challenge held on 15 May, with many enjoying the adventure and obstacle course, along with the stunning coastal views. Total Sport, who managed the event did a great job of making sure there was something for everyone.
Scruffs Dog Show 6 March 2011
Plenty of pooches (and their families) had a fun day of tail wagging and bone chasing at the Scruffs Dog Show on Sunday 6 March at The Oval, Hobsonville Point. Dogs of all shapes and sizes took part in competitions including the dog with the waggiest tail, best dressed and the owner/dog lookalike competition, concluding with SCRUFF of the year.
This year the Scruffs Dog Show supported the Mobility Assistance Dogs Trust.
The Lions Club of Ranui Swanson are very proud of their annual show through which over the last 24 years they have been able to offer monetary support to local and national organisations such as West Auckland Hospice, West Auckland Diabetes and Dogs for the Deaf to name just a few.
Hobsonville Point Farmers Market Opens 13 February 2011
Crowds poured into the No. 5 Store building to visit stallholders selling delicious free range eggs, cheeses, meats, veggies and more.
Frocks on Bikes joined us for the morning and had a casual bike ride around the coastal circuit.
Live music, food demonstrations, and the surrounding park, cafe and playground make a visit to the market a great morning out.
The market is on every Sunday morning from 9am to 1pm
Hobsonville Point Park Opening event 17 October 2010
To celebrate the opening of the Hobsonville Point Park and Playground, we had a kids bike ride, bouncy castles, facepainters, and a real digger to to try out! Despite the rain, everyone had lots of fun.
Catalina Cafe and Information Centre Opening 22 August 2010
The Opening of the Catalina Cafe, Community Space and Information Centre Opening was a great day.
The new Catalina Café was bursting with people, and kids queued up for ice-cream, face painting and the bouncy castles, and the new nature- themed playground was a big hit with the kids. The playground contains sculptural elements of supersized native plant seeds made from steel that children can play on or in, and also serves as a ‘living classroom’.
While the children were kept entertained, parents wandered through the new Information Centre, where they could get details about the plans for Hobsonville Point.
Hobsonville Hustle 24 April 2010
The Waitakere Triathlon and Multisport Club held their annual Hobsonville Hustle at Hobsonville Point. Participants could run or walk the 5km route, and some keen participants completed the loop twice.
Planting day 18 September 2009
A planting day was held to plant over 300 native plants as part of the restoration process at Hobsonville Point. The Hobsonville Land Company is a member of Green Fleet and trees planted help offset emissions from our cars.
Decommissioning Ceremony 22 September 2008
The Decommisioning Ceremony marked the decommissioning of the main gate into Hobsonville Point, which was guarded by the RNZAF. The eagle crest and plaque that were placed there in the 1970's have been carefully removed and will be reinstated on site when an appropriate new home has been found on site for them.
Members of the RNZAF Marine Section and Hobsonville Old Boys Association attended the ceremony.
