First step taken in the establishment of new primary and secondary schools at Hobsonville Point

The Hobsonville Land Company is pleased to bring to your attention that the Ministry of Education has commenced its consultation process for the new primary and secondary schools planned for Hobsonville Point. Current planning is for the primary school to open in 2013 and for the secondary school to open in 2014. The Ministry of Education is currently seeking the community’s views on the two schools and is also seeking nominations for the establishment boards for the schools. Hobsonville Plant Network Grand Opening

Plant Network

Saturday 12 June, 10am – 2pm

The Hobsonville Plant network is a place where you can get involved in looking after our environment. There will be free workshops on composting, landscaping with natives, household sustainability and planting garlic. You will also be able to meet the plant network team and find out what’s happening at Hobsonville Point.

Hobsonville Land Company is proud to support the Waitakere Tri Club 2010 Hobsonville Hustle. This free fun run offers a unique chance to experience the stunning coastal views and fascinating air force history at Hobsonville Point. This event is for all fitness levels and you have the choice of running or walking either 5km or 10km. There will be a sausage sizzle afterwards, with all proceeds going to club members travelling to world championships.

Endeavour at Hobsonville Point

Endeavour

Yachting Developments Limited has been awarded a prestigious contract to refit on of the worlds top ten boats of all time. The Endeavour, a 130 foot J Class sloop, was built in England to challenge for the America's Cup in 1934. In her time the Endeavour won many races and is still regarded as one of the best boats ever built. The refit will be extensive and is expected to take about 16 months. Yachting Developments is one of several super yacht builders already established at Hobsonville Point as part of the Marine Industry Precinct Yard 37.

Visit our stall at the Hobsonville Motorway Walk

This Sunday (21st February) you will have the chance to walk or cycle the partially constructed SH 18 Hobsonville Deviation. Come and check out progress on the motorway construction and visit us at the Hobsonville Point information stall at the half way point. The event is organised by the Rotary clubs of Waitakere on behalf of the NZ Transport Agency and HEB Construction, please refer to the Rotary website for details.

Sunderland Lounge available for hire

The Sunderland Lounge is a community hall at Hobsonville Point. Originally built as the airbase cinema in the 1940s it holds up to 300 people and is ideally suited for functions, exercise classes and other community uses. Find out more on our community page.

Coastal consents notified

The Hobsonville Land Company, in conjunction with Waitakere Properties Limited, has applied to the Auckland Regional Council (ARC) for resource consents to authorise the redevelopment of the Landing area which incorporates the construction, occupation and use of structures (including a ferry wharf, marina, boardwalks, large boat launching facility, public boat ramp and beach) and activities in the coastal marine area. Applications have also been made to the Waitakere City Council (WCC) for activities on the land associated with the coastal structures such as earthworks, vegetation clearance and car parking.

Submissions on the applications close with the ARC and WCC on 12 February 2010.

The coastal consent applications are the first step in the redevelopment of the Landing area. Consultation regarding the design and activities at the Landing will be progressed through this year.

Builders’ agreements signed for first development stage

Universal Homes, Jennian Homes and G.J. Gardner Homes have been contracted by AV Jennings to deliver the first stage of housing at Hobsonville Point. Civil works are already under way and construction of the first homes will commence in the middle of 2010, with the first residents moving in around March 2011. A display village will allow the new home buyers to view the range of housing options available and learn more about Hobsonville Point. More information will be released early next year, so register your interest now.

Coastal Consent Application Lodged

The consent application for the coastal structures at The Landing was lodged with the Auckland Regional Council and Waitakere City Council on 30 October 2009.

The application seeks consent for a ferry wharf, coastal boardwalk from The Landing to Marine Parade, tidal stairs, marina berths, large boat launch facility (associated with the Marine Precinct), finishing berth, public boat ramp and beach.

It is expected that the application will be publicly notified shortly.
