Things to do
Some 4.5 kms of coastline reserves will be opened up to the public, along with other parks and a ‘green circuit’ boardwalk and trail for walking and cycling around the edge is planned. The first stage of the ‘green circuit’ will be developed as part of initial Buckley Precinct, with connections across the site to the coastal edge.
At the gateway Landing area people will be able to go kayaking or rowing, launch boats and go sailing.
There is a good hall on site that will be kept for a community hall suitable for meetings, yoga, drama and other similar uses, while another of the other existing buildings appears suitable for use as a ‘social services hub’ where government and non-government service agencies could be located.
There will be well landscaped pocket parks for local neighbourhood residents to gather, places for BBQs will be created in parks, and events can be held at the waterfront Landing area.
A Community management group will be formed to organise and run events and other activities and facilities on behalf of the overall community. Hobsonville Land Company will facilitate this.
