Location & transport
Public transport is proposed for the area with a focus on reducing and managing traffic flows. As well, walkable connections to local shops and schools and employment will reduce the need for families to have more than one car. The Hobsonville Land Company is working closely with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority to develop the most effective public transport systems for the new community.
Buses
There will be new frequent bus services connecting west to Westgate and east to Albany, along with local bus services connecting the new ferry terminal to Westgate.
Ferrys
The ferry service is planned from 2011. It will connect Hobsonville Point to downtown Auckland in 20 minutes. The frequency will increase as the population on the site builds up.
Vehicles
For vehicle traffic, there will be an interchange with the new State Highway 18 to and from the North Shore, while traffic going to and from the west will enter the development via Hobsonville Road, which will become a secondary road when SH18 becomes operational.
